a few more things...

...in the meanwhile, I bought a black 8gb iPod nano for the 18hr trip...

...and a panasonic lumix dmc-fx01 6 megapixel digital camera that I hope not to drop while running the marathon...

...all I need now is some bodyglide...so I don't bleed from 4hrs of chafing...

preparing for seoul

The Shoe Saga - in preparation for the Seoul International Marathon

New Balance 991GL 10.5 2E - perfect fit and match, helped me through the first marathon training and race
New Balance 992GL 10.5 2E - unfortunate replacement for the retired M991GL

Then I developed ilio-tibial band syndrome (ITBS)...
So the physical therapist decided I needed a stiffer shoe, but for the meanwhile try flat feet insoles...
Until those started giving me problems...
So in lieu of insoles, I decided to find the stiffer shoe with the same perfect fit as the New Balance 991GL 10.5 2E...

In less then 2 months...(thanks to Road Runner Sports perfect fit guarantee - seriously went back to the store 6+ times even after logging 10-30 miles on each pair I tried)

Asics Kayano XIII 11 2E - too narrow, upper left foot pain

Asics Foundation VI 11 D - too narrow, upper left foot pain

New Balance 1222 11 2E - too long

New Balance 1222 10.5 2E - shoe tongue was jamming my left foot, and no support for arch

New Balance 767 10.5 2E - too narrow, upper left foot pain

New Balance 767 10.5 4E 10.5 - not enough arch support

Asics GT-2110 11 4E - too long

Asics GT-2110 10.5 4E - too narrow, upper left foot pain

New Balance 857 10.5 4E - too wide

New Balance 857 10.5 2E - not enough support

Asics Foundation VI 11 4E - bingo! we have winner number one

Asics Evolution II 10.5 4E - bingo! we have winner number two

Asics Foundation VII 11 10.5 4E - bingo! we have winner number two

I don't know which one will be run on the big day...

Take home lessons...
1) Highly recommend Road Runner Sports if you want to figure out what running shoes are best for you
2) Not an intelligent decision to change shoes two months before the marathon
3) There are shoes that fit my feet (right is 1cm longer then left, both are almost flat - but the left has an arch and does not overpronate as much as the right)

word

I cannot become faded. Not now.
I need to remember and recognize that all things,
both material and immaterial are gifts.
Please remind me of that;
it is often difficult to always remember.
